What should I expect?

Therapy begins with an evaluation of your needs. By the end of our first meeting, I will offer some initial impressions of what our work should include and a treatment plan to follow. Determining the length of treatment is a collaborative process that depends on the client’s goals and individual case formulation. If we decide to work together, we’ll schedule once- or twice-weekly 45-minute sessions.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

People often wonder what to expect when they begin therapy. My clients can expect therapy to be problem-focused and relatively short-term, typically lasting between 3-12 months depending on your goals.

Do you accept insurance? What is the cost for therapy?

Please call or email to discuss my fee. I do not work directly with insurance companies, but if you have a PPO or another plan that allows you to select an out-of-network provider, you may be eligible for reimbursement. I provide a monthly invoice which can be submitted to your insurance company for direct reimbursement to you. Policies vary significantly, and I recommend checking with your insurance company to determine the extent of your out-of-network mental health (or “behavioral health”) benefits, including your annual deductible, the number of sessions covered per calendar year, and whether or not your sessions need to be pre-authorized.

*Accepted forms of payment include cash, check, and credit card. Payment is due at the time of your session.

What is your no show/cancellation policy?

Should you need to cancel your session unexpectedly, at least 24-hours notice is required.  For sessions that are missed or canceled with less than 24 hours notice clients are financially responsible for the full fee for the missed session regardless if the appointment is rescheduled for that same week.
